Canvas Best Practices

• 盟友: The 可访问性 Tool Integrated in Canvas

  • 盟友 is an accessibility tool in Canvas which guides faculty in checking 和 remediating their course content. It also provides students with alternative formats.

    In Canvas, select the 盟友 Course 可访问性 Report in the left h和 navigation menu. Then view the accessibility of your course content 和 use 盟友’s guidance to remediate the content.  You can also select any gauge icon next to a document's title to view 盟友's recommendations for remediation.

• The Canvas 可访问性 Checker

  • It is recommended to always use the Canvas 可访问性 Checker as an extra way to check your course content. 

• Locating Accessible Materials

  • For assistance locating accessible alternatives to your course materials such as articles, ebooks 和 accessible PDFs, contact your subject librarian.

  • Some best practices with PDFs are:

    Never use scanned PDFs.

    Link to an article’s 永久链接. Do not download the PDF of the article.

    Always check the accessibility of your 词 or 演示文稿 before converting selecting "File" 和 "Save as Adobe PDF".

    This add-on is available to faculty 和 staff.
